The Modern Pantry

I beg to differ if the above post is still there, it was actually the manager who didn't allow our dog in. The waitresses had to check with him. I didn't say the food is bad. it's actually very good and we have been back a few times but only during good weather and we were never allowed to bring out dog into the restaurant. he is a small dog and we put him into a bag whenever we need to go into a building. modern pantry is a very good restaurant but this app is to help people find places they can bring their dogs to, so I would say that my situation was the norm rather than the exception.

Fantastic We visited this pub a few weeks ago at about 3pm in a Saturday. There were 6 adults and 7 sausage dogs. The owners quickly dragged two tables together on the back patio that was half in the shade and half out. They then rushed about letting and stroking all the dogs, making sure everyone was comfortable and getting water for the dogs as it was a warm afternoon. Food was fantastic and we were made to feel very welcome. We will be back very soon xx

The Argyle

added by MDM, 2 years ago
truly shocking place have visited this bar quite a lot since it was I sold to Stonegate - tonight's experience was truly shocking even by their own bouncers comments - there is a new policy here - dogs aren't allowed in here because 'there are so many drunks in here. if one of then stood on them you would sue us and we can't guarantee their safety' - the words of their most senior team member as the manager was apparently 'hiding in the cellar' . This was compounded by their senior bar member who pointed out helpfully that the 'idiot' who said that this was dog friendly was a liar as they had never been in here. Strange as the same bar staff member served me and the dogs two weeks ago without issue - it's a bad pub anyway that now just got a million times worse and should be avoided

The Argyle

added by Moocher, 2 years ago
Don't Even Bother We've taken the dogs here on many afternoons. This evening, we were told by the Team Leader ("those are my rules and what I say, goes") that dogs aren't allowed in on Friday evenings because "there are so many drunks I. here that someone might stand on them, then you'd sue us." Another staff member then joined in with "dogs have never been allowed in here," seemingly forgetting that he'd served us when we were here with them a few weeks back. We won't be back.

When we arrive, human and dogs are greeted alike. Then they will bring a bowl of water when they serve the human their drinks. As for the food, it's classic Italian with refinement - never had a bad dish. Always a pleasure to dine there - excellent service to go with it.

Sooperb This is a busy pub on the corner of Grays Inn Road and Theobalds Road, which is open six days a week. We visited the pub for dinner on a quiet Tuesday night, and were immediately impressed how light and airy it was, and ordered a pint of Peroni and Aspalls - both were served perfectly and were chilled perfectly which was great for a hot night. The dinner menu is reasonably priced and features among other things a great selection of nibbles and home made burgers. On a Tuesday night, these are on offer with a selection of craft beers for a tenner which is amazing value. We sampled the Blues Burger which was a delicious home made burger, with bacon, blue sauce and topped with crisps. This was served with garlic fries which gave it a nice kick. It was a toss up between that and the Hanks BBQ Burger which also sounded delicious. We also sampled the Veggie Burger, which rather than the slab of fried stuff as is standard in a lot of venues, was a couple of delicious falafel pieces, with a tasty mayo. Service was friendly and unobtrusive in an excellent venue to which which we will return

Furniture fix and pet therapy in one! I loved GNF in its old home at the top of the market, showcased in the window of the old flower shop now annexed by The Family Business, but Nik has pulled out all the stops to make the newer showroom a pared down and super efficiently edited snapshot of unmissable highlights. Like Joan Collins I tend to reveal my secrets just once a decade in a tell all book then seal the lid on the jewellery box, I don't like everyone knowing about my gems, for they lose their lustre and uniqueness. With GNF it's different, I rave about the shop everyday because it deserves its we'll earned reputation for going the extra mile in service, attention to detail and curating one of the best selections of mid century in the area. From delicate ceramics, graphic soft furnishings, lighting and glassware, to the bespoke upholstery service, Nik and his mini bratwurst sidekick Ron never fail to offer a second to none personal service. Insider tip - A new daschund puppy recently arrived giving even more reason to pup in, (see what I did there), he is ADORABLE. Head over there, and make sure to check out downstairs for larger pieces. Nik works incredibly hard so if you happen to be getting one yourself, take the boy a coffee, he'll love you for it!

Halfway House Inn I cant recommend this pub enough! We love getting away with the caravan and as this pub was within an hour of the beaches and on an easy route we stopped here with the caravan and 4 dogs for a long weekend. The dogs loved the warm welcome from both the staff and even the locals. The meals were superb, we ate our meals in the bar and the dogs were all sprawled out in front of the log fire. I cant remember a time where I felt more relaxed away from home! There is a secure field where the dogs were allowed to exercise off lead. The staff are so welcoming and you feel 'at home' almost immediately!

Started the morning with a walk along the canal which runs alongside the tavern then back in time for lunch. The staff found us a table in the snug so that we were tucked away. A nice thought as it was a bank holiday and getting busy. We took some vet bed for under the table so they could lie down while we ate. Food was wonderful and service great. For well behaved dogs and real must visit. We can't wait to go again!

Expect to keep your pet on a lead. Great just for a drink, snack or full meal. Plenty of seating. Refreshing for a town centre place to allow your dogs to enter. Highly recommended!

Great place Met a friend here for a drink last night. Phoned ahead to check they were dog friendly and was told they were. On arrival I was very welcome and Thisbe , my dog, was immediately given a drink. The pub itself is a lovely airy space in a grade one listed building arranged over two floors. Amazing to think you are at a station. Good range of beers and although I didn't eat the food looked good.

good for a coffee and cake! the food is nice, it's not 5 star dining, but it's a cafe in a garden centre so it's what you'd expect. their cakes are yummy and it's good to browse around the place and not have to leave to dogs in the car. they have some lovely things in the shop.

Light

added by ecal, 3 years ago
Casual, friendly and delicious! I'm lucky enough to live near Light...and even luckier to have a dog who I can take there. The atmosphere at Light is joyfully casual and the staff are very warm and consistently enthusiastic. The food is the superstar of the venue. I am a vegetarian myself, but without a doubt the menu would please even the meatiest of carnivores. My personal favorites are the Fried rice with Tofu, and the Burger. They blend simple favours perfectly to pack a tasty punch, which often vegetatrians meals are lacking. The food and staff are well worth the somewhat minimal surrounds. But the simple decor and small area make it a great place for a quick delicious bite to eat, as opposed to a lingering meal. Their set menu is a hearty and filling at less than $100HKD (but if you request any changes you will be charged extra). And don't forget it's cash only (if you do forget through, there are ATMs close by on Queens Road West). One more thing, BYO magazines for English readers. I hope you enjoy the friendly food at Light with your dogs as much as I do!??

The Sea View Hotel & Pub

added by Anna Richardson, 3 years ago
The Sea View Very dog friendly hotel with cottages and a bar as well as a restaurant. Staying in the garden cottages we were delighted to find a doggy welcome pack including Bonio biscuits. At New Year the dogs sat with us in the bar to eat and were also welcome in some parts of the restaurant at breakfast - the chef cooked them a breakfast sausage! Highly recommended by the Dachshunds Anonymous group on Facebook

The Winking Prawn

added by Anna Richardson, 3 years ago
The Winking Prawn Not overly impressed by the food - overcooked barbecue food! service was average, it seems to be the place to work if you are a Jack Wills wearing floppy haired teen.... Having said that, dogs are welcome in the conservatory and outside - plenty of outside seating and it is right opposite a lovely beach.
